Site of WP/RASS A 404 MHz wind profiler/Radio Acoustic Sounding System (RASS) fabricated by the Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering & Research,(SAMEER), Mumbai has been commissioned for utilization in the R & D mode at the India Meteoroloical Department(IMD) , Pune. The system is capable of measuring all three components of vector wind Viz. zonal, meridional and vertical wind velocities. The system as configured has a typical height coverage of 6-10 kms (depending on weather conditions) with a resolution of 300 meters for wind. In the Rass option for temperature measurement height coverage is 2-3 kms . |

Radar Control Room houses a high power RF transmitter, duplexer and sensitive receiver / signal processor. Duplexer connects transmitter to the antenna during transmission and switches to the receive port when the high power transmit pulse has passed. |
