Research Highlight


Prediction of summer monsoon rainfall  over India and its homogeneous regions

The coherent regions for meteorological fields (sea level pressure, temperature, geopotential height and zonal wind anomalies) at lower, middle and upper tropospheric levels in pre-monsoon months (January through May) and seasons (Winter, Spring) have been identified using Shared Nearest Neighbor (SNN) algorithm. The relationship between time series of these cluster regions and the summer monsoon rainfall over India and its well defined homogeneous regions over India viz.  Northwest (NW) India, central northeast (CNE) India, northeast (NE) India, west central (WC) India and peninsular (PEN) India, have been examined during the positive and negative phases.......
