SHORT-TERM CLIMATIC FLUCTUATIONS
This project deals with monthly, seasonal, interannual and decadal scale studies on regional climate.
PREDICTION MODELS
Studies have been carried out to develop prediction model for seasonal total rainfall over the country. Studies on ENSO-Monsoon relationship and their predictive capabilities are also undertaken. Efforts are made on to develop empirical prediction models for prediction of rainfall on subdivisional scale.
CLIMATE VARIABILITY
Under this area, analysis on occurrances of major floods over India in relation to the sunspot cycles, association between quasibiennial oscillations & the monsoon rain and impact of orography on rain over Maharashtra have been carried out. Studies on ozone distribution and temperature variation are made.
