ORGANIZATIONAL MATTERS

The leading body of the WG consist of Rashid Akmaev (CIRES, University of Colorado, USA)Dr. Gufran Beig (Pune, “ Vice-Chairman & information
officer”), Prof. Alexei Danilov (Moscow), Dr. Jan Lastovicka (Prague, chairman,
IAGA representative), Dr. Jacek Stegman (Stockholm, SCOSTEP),
Prof. Gary Thomas (Boulder, vice-chairman, ICMA representative).

A web page is prepared & maintained by Dr. G. Beig. It is located in Pune (India). This would
be updated as an when new information is available. Other means of dissemination
are under consideration, including a brochure with the results of assessment.

The WG will be the main organizer of the subsequent two yearly Workshop on long-term changes
and trends in the atmosphere with emphasis on the mesosphere, thermosphere
and ionosphere. The Workshop will be held in late June 2001 in Prague (Czech
Republic). A half-to-one day session, organized by the WG, will be held
during the IAGA Scientific Assembly in Hanoi (Vietnam) in July 2001. Other
meetings in the more distant future are envisaged.

Collaboration/coordination of activities with the SPARC/WCRP is important
and currently under negotiations.
