1. The workshop recommended the use of contemporary data and models to integrate the latest developments. For example, MSMR data and global model analysis to understand the physical processes at different time scales.

  1. As per the BOBMEX Implementation Plan, the data sets may be exchanged with International scientific community. This will enhance the utilisation of the Indian data sets and provide an opportunity for more interactions in discussing the problems of monsoon. However, BOBMEX user scientists may ensure such exchanges are transparent in all directions. Further, the source of data has to be properly acknowledged in all scientific/technical publications.

  1. Recommended that NCMRWF may reanalyse the daily global data sets, including the latest technological developments in satellite data (Meteosat, IRS-P4, etc) during the BOBMEX period of 45 days.

  1. The workshop recognised the need to develop and test the meso-scale models to investigate the various processes involved in the monsoon dynamics over the Indian Ocean. More intensive collaboration with Universities involved in Atmospheric Science research is recommended

  1. Many of the scientific papers presented during the deliberations worth publication in standard referred journals. The following editorial board has been recommended for this purpose; Prof. DR Sikka (Chairman), Prof. Sulochana Gadgil, Prof. UC Mohanty, Dr. RR Rao, Dr. VSN Murty and Dr. V. Ramesh Babu (Convener). Accordingly, all the authors are requested to submit the full paper in the style of Proceedings of the Earth & Planetary Science to reach the convener latest by 15th May 2001.

  1. A consolidated technical paper on BOBMEX-Implementation and Initial Results may be prepared and published as ICRP report.

  1. The participants strongly recommended that there is a need to evolve mechanisms to create long-term career improvement programmes to sustain the human resources developed in particular the multi-disciplinary groups like ocean-atmosphere community. The participating agencies may encourage greater interaction towards national development.
