About Library

The Library is an integral part of the Library, Information and Publication Division. It is the information backbone of the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology. It is comprehensive Information System in Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences. The information base built by Library consists of books, monographs, back volumes of journals, scientific/technical reports, seminars/symposia proceedings, reprints, abstracts, bibliographies, global meteorological data, geophysical data, maps, atlases, theses etc. and national/international current journals covering a wide range of subjects in Atmospheric and Ocean Sciences. Library provides resources to support academic and research activities in the areas of Mathematics, Theoretical Physics, Meteorology, Atmospherices Sciences.

Objectives:

• Collection, organisation and dissemination of information pertinent to the present and anticipated research needs of the Institute.
• Providing technical services like library, documentation, information, publications, drawing, drafting, micrography and hotography to scientists of the Institute.
• Providing facilities for the retrievaland use of information resources.
• Preparing, publishing and presenting various scientific research reports and allied material on the activities of the Institute and keeping liaison with other scientific organisations and universities in India and abroad.
• Development of informal resource sharing network with libraries in India and abroad.
