World Environment Day 2018

 

“Beat Plastic Pollution”, the theme for World Environment Day 2018, is a call to action for all of us to come together to combat one of the great environmental challenges of our time chosen by this year’s host, India. In context of with this Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune along with Delhi Based RP’s School of Planning and Architecture, WWF and Sulabh grappled an opportunity to embrace the many ways that we can help to combat plastic pollution around us. From 1st to 5th June 2018 a series of engaging activities and events like Rally, Movie screening, interviews with local vendors and customers, Sensitization of local people's towards effect of using plastics in their daily life generating strong public interest and participation were conducted at most crowed places at Delhi explicitly at Sarojini Market, INA market Kotala market, Sewa Nagar etc. 

IITM, Pune leaded for organization of mammoth event on WED, 5th June 2018 at most crowded and famous place "Connaught Palace", Inner circle, Delhi with great zeal. Chief Economic advisor Dr. Ananadi Subramanian and Joint Director Mrs. Urmila from secretariat, MoEF &CC along with team of secretariat and more than 500 peoples were witness for above mentioned different activities along with Street play and song on Plastic pollution during the period.
