Research Highlight

Effects of multilayer snow scheme on the simulation of snow: Offline Noah and coupled with NCEP CFSv2

  • Multilayer (maximum six layers) snow scheme is implemented in the land surface model Noah
  • The modified Noah is coupled with NCEP CFSv2
  • Large improvement found in the simulation of snow by offline and coupled modified Noah
  • CFSv2 coupled with modified Noah improves the seasonal mean monsoon rainfall over India
