Research Highlight

Unraveling the Mystery of the Indian Summer Monsoon Prediction

Skillful prediction of the seasonal Indian summer monsoon rainfall has been a bottleneck problem for more than a century. This study unveils that the seemingly chaotic internal variability arising from the monsoon sub-seasonal dynamics harbors a degree of predictability. This discovery establishes a robust scientific foundation that transcends conventional seasonal predictability estimates, igniting optimism for a reliable dynamical seasonal forecasts in the near future.
